President Brian acted as MC and introduced prospective member Aileen Guimelli and Guest speaker Rotarian Mike Berman form Rotary Club Ascot. NOTES Visit to Perth Mint 10.30am Tour Saturday 22nd of February is followed by lunch at Grovernor Hotel. The meeting on the 25th has therefor been cancelled. - A big thank you to Tiffiny and Liam for organising this visit. We had a lot of fun on the day! Cocktail Reception at Westin is being held Thursday the 20th of February with State Governor Kim Beasley, Greg will attend on behalf of our Club. Path of Hope Ball promotion: It was suggested that Rebecca Tolstoy and Lachlan Oakley visit our Club and encourage members to attend this fundraising event. Reminder-----PETS seminar May 1st and 2nd; Club Officer Training May 2nd. Kaye Moro has been nominated for Community Director 2020-21 Dee outlined what her duties are now as DG Nominee. They include visits to Clubs looking at their Projects both to her own group as AG and others and supporting Kalamunda Rotaract Club. She visited the Club last Sunday and learnt of their up and coming Projects and fundraisers. Firstly, they will be holding a Quiz Night in March, secondly they are organising a Fishing Trip to Upper Lesmurdie Falls to catch predator fish in the Creek for a $1 donation. Thirdly, they are packing a container with toys and stationery for Timor Leste Kindergarten. They are asking for donations of toys or blocks from the Club. Dee hopes to organise a joint BBQ with our Club and the Rotaracters in Ascot in May. Fourthly, they are working at the Kalamunda Show. Visit to Bell Tower Sun 1st March has been confirmed by Laith. Time of Tour 11.00am. Friends and family welcome. - a big thank you to Laith who organised the visit to the Bell Tower! Raffle was $28 won by Dan. SPEAKER PRESENTATION by Mike Berman Hamlets of Eraulo Water Project in Timor Leste. Since Mike's last visit to the Club when he outlined the Project, our Club has donated $5000. This is how the money will be spent: 4000m (4km) of piping which has to cross over difficult terrain as the water has to be pumped up the hill and then down. 12 water tanks which hold 10,000 litres and 12 tanks holding 5000 litres with the required pumps. Total funding to date includes $US 30,000 provided through RAWCS. This Project will help about 2000 people. Work has started with locals working morning until night. All purchases of equipment provide receipts so the Rotary Club can monitor expenses. Mike would like someone form the Club to go and visit Timor Leste to see progress of the Project. Also, anyone could volunteer and teach in the area.
