It was with great pleasure that we welcomed John Walters as our Guest Speaker for the start up night. John is an Engineering Science Adviser to major Oil and Gas companies advising ways in which they can reduce emissions. He is a passionate advocate on this issue. The talk started with the Science prospective on Climate Change and its impacts. The “Earthrise” photo was taken by Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders on December 24, 1968, in orbit around the Moon. It was the first image of the Earth as it appeared from deep space, and demonstrates the fragility, size, and finite nature of the planet.
