Welcome back to our President Brian!
This meeting was used as committee meetings and an update to the club members.
President Elect Greg described his visit to Darling Range Sports College where he presented 5 Rotary Awards to VET students. He said the school would welcome more direct involvement with our Club in the future.
Committees had a productive discussion with their members and this format will be continued on a monthly basis. A general comment was that this was the best and most beneficial meeting in recent months. The outcomes of the Committee discussions were as follows:
Greg and Brian are in the process of planning the date and venue for 2020 Changeover.
Visioning Session will be organised together with PDG Hank deSmit - the new date will be advised
Good input form all members. Kaye is looking into buying a new Rotary 6x3m Marquee with our Logo printed on the canopy. This Marquee can also be used at other Community events to promote our Club.
The Market is going really well. We have more stallholders than required, so we need to be selective. A process has been established to address this issue. There will be changes in the Terms and Conditions for permanent stallholders to keep the Markets fresh and attractive.
Social media following is up to 8500.
This year we will be celebrating 20 years of the Rotary Markets in Kalamunda. It has been a huge success story and reasons for its success need to be publicised.
A Bingo Night will be organised to raise some funds to support the various contributions made to International Projects. The Committee is working on details the event will be held in May.
The Members and Partners are invited to a tour of the Perth Mint on the 22nd Feb followed by lunch at the Grosvenor Hotel.
The committee is also working on a possible visit to Bell Tower on Sun the 1st or 8th of March.
Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Session will be run in conjunction with Rotary Aboriginal Reference Group and will take place in April. Venue TBA.
Project idea: - to organise a Fundraiser collaboratively with another group to fund something like a new reticulation system for the Community Garden, or a new wheelchair for Break the Boundary Group, or as assistance with Seniors Hub projects.
National Youth Science Forum: Our sponsored student only completed one session. All others sessions were cancelled due to impacts of the bush-fires. Obtaining a refund may be difficult.
Youth Exchange:  Our Outbound Ciedele is in Germany. The Inbound Student should be confirmed in March.
Fundraising: An Easter Hamper to be prepared and raffled. Final draw at the April Markets.
Encouragement Awards: most monies have now been sent to the High Schools.
Youth Night 24th March.  Our Tertiary Scholarship recipients, Rotaract Members and NYSF (National Youth Science Forum) participants will be invited to this meeting to share their experiences.
Kalamunda Rotaract have won 2 Awards within District and also Nationally. They were for their involvement in the Lesmurdie Falls Up the Creek Project and Bickley Observatory Projects.
Interact: The committee hopes to visit local High Schools later in the year to set up this program.
Committee will once again sponsor students for RYPEN and deliver microscopes to a local Primary School.
Possible involvement with providing buses and guides for Bickley Harvest weekend 2nd and 3rd May. This would provide good promotion for our Club
Joint meeting with Chamber of Commerce at neutral venue,  to see how we can work together for betterment of the Community.  TBA
Darling Range Seniors Hub: The Committee is waiting to receive a list of projects to identify how the Club can help.
Kalamunda Library Stained Glass Window.  The story on how it came about and what it depicts is being prepared and overseen by Andy Farrant. Also, its proposed to have a Noongar interpretation of the story.
Aquittal Form is ready to be sent to Community Grant recipients for reviewing their expenditure. A suggestion was made to keep back 10% of grant in the future and forwarded on receipt of Aquittal form.
Kalamunda Hockey Club. Still waiting for more quotes on lighting. Also, the Club would welcome some recognition and thanks from our Club following members visit to the venue.
Main issue is no money for promotion. This was resolved at end of meeting so no longer a problem.
Dan would like feedback from members as to what really works for successful promotion so he can start planning.
Create a Project to access District Grant funds.
President Brian commented there was a great vibe tonight, lively and productive discussion and thanked everyone for their involvement.
