Notes from the meeting held on the 17th of December
President Brian
  • Brian thanked members who visited the primary schools and presented Encouragement Awards.
  • Regarding the future meetings: The venue will stay the same with changed format. First Club meeting in January to be International Swiss Night  on Sat 18th January at Franziska and Franco's house.
  • The Visioning workshop will be held on a Saturday in February, date will be confirmed. It will be run by PDG Hank de Schmidt. Brian outlined themes the Club will be working on:   Meeting format, Improved communication between Club members, President and Board, Membership, Cost of meetings, Fundraising format which reflects what the Club is passionate about.
President Elect Greg
  • Greg commented on the success of Xmas Party at Myattsfield winery.
  • A vote of thanks was extended to Val and the Bar staff for their work this year
  • An official thank you letter for the Club's support of Carols by Candlelight was received.
Youth Director Eddie
  • Scholarship Awards were presented as follows:  Science-Naomi Nicholls LSHS and Arts-Charlotte Eden KSHS. 
  • A student from St Brigids will be attending National Youth Science Forum in June
  • All Encouragement Awards have been distributed. Big thank you to members who presented.
  • Outbound Youth Exchange Student Cidele Major from Geraldton will be leaving for Dusseldorf Germany on Saturday the 18th Jan. The inbound student will be arriving in July, not yet confirmed.
  • Two Rotary banners have been presented to our Rotaract Club
  • Four Awards to be presented to Darling Range Sports College students.
  • Schools will be approached in the new school year regarding setting up of Interact.
Community Director Leon
  • A video promoting our Club has been completed by Vanessa and was shown continually at Carols by Candlelight. An excellent effort..The Club gave $1000 towards the event.
  • Henk produced 3x Rotary plaques made by the Mens Shed recognising our Club's involvement. It is proposed that they will be used where the Club has been involved within the community.
  • Eight Projects were successful in obtaining Community Grants.
Membership Director Dan
  • we will be focused on the meeting format following Visioning workshop and the following board meeting.
  • It was proposed that we retain 3x meetings per month, no change to meeting time or day. However the meetings must be more productive to include:
    • One Speaker per month;
    • one Rotary business eg Committee meeting with minutes and report back to all members;
    • one fellowship to include joint Club meeting, Rotaract involvement, visits and tours.
Attendance costs will be considered together with type of refreshment .
 
President Brian
  • concluded by saying we will look at all proposals, try them out over a 2 month period and assess their success. He stressed that our club is in need for re-vitalisation to maintain membership and growth of membership.
  • Brian will be having a well earned rest and holiday this summer and will be back in mid February President Elect Greg will be running the club in his absence.

Swiss Dinner on the 18th of January

we all enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Lesmurdie escarpment, which is as close as it comes to the Swiss Alps here around Perth.
Both Franco and I enjoyed having you up at our place, where we enjoyed a variety of traditional Swiss foods. click on the link for some photos of the evening.

Youth Exchange - 2020
Our outbound exchange student Ciedele Mezger has departed to Germany on Saturday evening.
10 Students all left together on their venture to their various destinations throughout Europe.
